19th of September, 1998: The Danish rowing team 'The Golden Four' once again proved they are in a class of their own by winning the World Championships in Cologne, Germany. 'It was a dramatic struggle. And Victor rowed the three races with a broken rib,' explains former team mate Eskild Ebbesen. 'That must have hurt. But we didn't hear anything. That's how tough he is.'
Childhood friend, colleague (and employer) Jens Dalgaard from TACK International confirms that Victor Feddersen is made of solid stuff: 'But he is also possesses the other characteristics needed to succeed in sports and business, including a tremendous desire to reach the goal line. So it is no coincidence he has blossomed during his four years at TACK, where he is responsible for the team development division. The enthusiasm he is able to muster has an affect on everyone and everything. And he spans the total breadth from complicated tasks, where dysfunctional divisions need to be put together again with a new team spirit, to the kick-start of a project, where an entire team needs inspiration to see the objectives and values and act together.'
'Victor gets along with all people in all businesses. He is unpretentious and straightforward. And even though he has that iron will and a temper to match, he is still able to let others have a go,' says Jens Dalgaard.
Since leaving active sports Victor Feddersen, with an Academy Profession Degree in Financial Management, has dedicated himself to the board of Bagsværd Boarding School, where he is currently the chairman, and to organisational work in the elite sports world.
'As chairman of the joint committee in Team Danmark and Danmarks Idrætsforbund (Danish Olympic and Sport Associations) Victor has made a huge contribution in caring for the interests of elite athletes in these two major organisations,' says Olympic Games manager in DIF, Jesper Frigast Larsen. 'In the period 1993-2000 'The Golden Four' with Victor on the team achieved a long row of remarkable international results with the Olympic Gold in Atlanta in 1996, 4 World Championships and Olympic Bronze in Sydney in 2000 as the highlights. It was Victor and his colleagues on 'The Golden Four' who believed that a tiny nation like Denmark - through planning and hard work - could not only match the bigger nations, but beat them, and they paved the way for subsequent generations of rowers and other Danish top athletes to achieve outstanding results today.'
Who matches him at home? Anita does: She had a special eye to the dark-haired rower from the Olympic media coverage, and when she meet him a few years later and discovered he was single, she set out to explore whether the rowing gold medallist also had a heart of gold. He has.
